It is 1836 in the heat of summer. Overnight, three daughters and their mother are now in mourning. What is a mistress turned widow and three eligible young women going to do now? Set in Faubourg Tremé, New Orleans, Louisiana, the story unfolds within 24 hrs as these free women of color unearth their history, envision their future, and consider their legacy.

THE HOUSE THAT WILL NOT STAND asks the question: What do we do with the information that gets excavated? The production is ingrained with music and chants that highlight the African heritage. The story explores various themes from multiple cultures and mixed races that challenge how we define, manage, and view relationships, freedom, wealth, and financial independence. Although this play addresses grave subjects, audiences will enjoy the wit and comic relief.

The Tony Award-winning and Grammy-nominated musical “captures the spirit of rebellion…that dwells within all of us” (The New York Times) in the inspiring true story of one man’s fight against corruption and oppression.

overtures

Designed for college-aged students and recent graduates, Overtures is a two-week intensive professional training program that provides students with the stepping stones needed to transition from university training to professional work in musical theatre. Nine-hour days included rigorous and personalized instruction in vocal technique, song interpretation, acting, and auditions in both group and private settings with professional directors, music directors, choreographers, casting directors, and actors (ex: Broadway's Kate Baldwin and Jelani Alladin - who referred to her voice as "timeless"). Tziah was one of only six students admitted from her university, and in the end, she was awarded for her demonstrated excellence as a rising young artist.

British american drama academy: Midsummer in oxford

In 2024, Tziah was selected to attend the prestigious British American Drama Academy’s Midsummer in Oxford Program, held in partnership with the David Geffen School of Drama at Yale. Set in the historic grounds of Magdalen College at the University of Oxford, Tziah spent four weeks immersed in classical theatre training, with an emphasis on Shakespeare.

Under the tutelage of the leading international theatre practitioners and teaching artists, and alongside participants from the top U.S. graduate programs, Tziah trained six days a week in Acting, Shakespeare, Voice, Movement, and Clown. The first half of the program focused on classical technique, while the final weeks were dedicated entirely to Shakespearean performance and text. In this final cumulative performance, Tziah was cast as Benedick in Much Ado About Nothing.

In addition to training, BADA also includes weekly masterclasses with acclaimed theatre

professionals, and a cohort excursion to a major production at both the National

Theatre and Royal Shakespeare Company.
